The Barnabas Samaritan Medical Program is a free urgent care program. The program's purpose is to provide quality urgent health care services to adult residents of Nassau County, Florida. Dr. Tom Washburn serves as the program's volunteer Medical Director. The program is coordinated by two RNs, and patients are treated by volunteer physicians, nurses and social workers.

The program can only serve a limited amount of patients each evening.

There are 45 million Americans who have little or no access to health care, and the number is growing at a rate of one million people per year. These medically underserved are all across this country, and many are our own neighbors or family members. Their lack of basic health care is not just a problem for them, but for everyone in Nassau County.

General Funds Donation

1. The patient must show proof of Nassau County residency
2. The patient must complete a financial interview.
3. The patient must have a mental health screening.
4. The patient cannot have medical insurance; this includes Medicare Part A & B and Medicaid.

Services Offered
The program offers medical care services to adults in need of urgent care. Urgent care is defined as care that does not require the Hospital Emergency Department, but is not a chronic illness.
Examples of appropriate medical need:

• Unstable hypertension
• Wound care
• Unstable diabetes
• Infection

Services a client may receive at the clinic include:

• Physical assessment
• Written prescriptions
• Education for disease management
• Mental health evaluation
